A Million Members for the
Employee Free Choice Act!

It's what labor communicators know
better than anyone: use an effective message and you can
create change.
Right now, the American labor movement is coming
together to send the message to next year's lawmakers that
they must give workers real freedom to
choose a union and get better health care, job security and
benefits. They must pass the Employee Free Choice
Act.
To send this message to the incoming Congress
next year, unions in both labor federations have launched a
petition campaign called the Million Member
Mobilization. Labor communicators are now on the
front lines of this campaign to educate union members about
why they should sign in support of this crucial
legislation.
The AFL-CIO has put together a
comprehensive tool kit for talking about the Employee
Free Choice Act with union members. It's got sample
newsletter columns, language for e-mail blasts, talking
points, and tips for engaging community allies--and that's the
tip of the iceberg. Visit the page on the AFL-CIO's website for
these downloadable education materials, and watch your email
for more from your international unions and state feds.
A million signatures and 100,000
photographs of union members in support of the Employee Free
Choice Act--that's what it will take to get lawmakers'
attention. With the nation's best communications
specialists leading the charge to get the message out to
members, ILCA knows it can be done.
